What is a Quality Management System (QMS)?

A Quality Management System (QMS) is a collection of policies, processes, documented procedures, and records that define the set of internal rules that will govern how your organisation creates and delivers your products and/or services to your customers. This will help you to continually monitor and manage quality across your organisation so you can identify areas for improvement and deliver to a consistently high standard.

A QMS needs to be tailored to the needs of each organisation and the products and/or services it provides.

Depending on how your organisation operates today, creating a QMS may not require a lot of change beyond documenting what and how you do it, or it may mean a number of changes that can benefit your organisation.
